Get the right gear

You should always exercise good business judgement when offering delivery services to ensure your safety and those of other Canadian residents!

Ebike and motorbike/scooter riders can be exposed to a number of risks on the road. To help keep you safe and minimize these potential risks, we’ve compiled a list of the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) you can use on each delivery run.

e-bike PPE:

HelmetThat meets Canadian Standards Association (CAN/CSA D113.2-M89 – Cycling Helmets)The helmet should be a comfortable fit, with minimal movement when fastenedHelmets are a legal requirement in some provincesYou should replace your helmet every 3-5 years, or after an impact 
High vis vestTo meet Canadian Standards (CSA Standard Z96-15)This is to be worn over your other clothes and should be able to be fastened at the front
Eye protectionSafety-style sunglasses that are shatterproofThese should be free from scratches and must be cleaned to ensure visibility is not affected
Sun protectionYou should adopt ways to protect yourself from UV rays.
ShoesOpen-toe shoes such as flip flops or sandals can increase incidentsNon-slip or covered shoes are generally recommended

Recommended motorcycles/scooters PPE:

HelmetShatterproof goggles or a visor when riding these should be free from scratches and should be cleaned periodically to ensure visibility
